TAÇA DE PORTUGAL

A Taça de Portugal é uma competição anual de futebol de associações e o primeiro torneio a eliminar do futebol português. Por motivos de patrocínio, passou a ser conhecido como Placard da Taça de Portugal na temporada 2015-2016. Organizada pela Federação Portuguesa de Futebol desde a sua primeira realização em 1938, a competição está aberta a clubes profissionais e amadores das quatro divisões principais da liga. Os jogos são disputados de agosto-setembro a maio-junho, e a final é tradicionalmente disputada no Estádio Nacional de Oeiras, perto de Lisboa. Os vencedores classificam-se para a Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (ou vice-campeões, caso os vencedores sejam também campeões da liga) e para a UEFA Europa League (a menos que já se classifiquem para a UEFA Champions League por classificação na liga).

Antes de 1938, uma competição semelhante foi realizada desde 1922 com o nome de Campeonato de Portugal (Inglês: Campeonato de Portugal), que determinou os campeões nacionais entre os diferentes vencedores do campeonato regional. O estabelecimento da Primeira Liga, competição de âmbito nacional, como campeonato nacional oficial em 1938, levou à conversão do Campeonato de Portugal na principal competição de taça nacional, sob sua denominação atual. Na verdade, o troféu atribuído aos vencedores da Taça de Portugal é o mesmo que foi atribuído aos vencedores do Campeonato de Portugal, embora os títulos em cada competição sejam contabilizados separadamente.

Os primeiros vencedores da Taça de Portugal foram a Académica, que derrotou o Benfica por 4–3 na final de 1939. O Benfica é a equipa mais bem-sucedida da competição, com 26 troféus em 36 jogos finais. O Porto é o atual detentor do título, que bateu o Benfica na final de 2020.
