O Palmeiras empatou com o Bragantino no final de semana e chegou ao quarto jogo seguido sem vitória. Neste período, perdeu para o primeiro duelo das semis da Libertadores (1 a 0) e empatou com Flamengo e Fluminense, além da Massa Bruta. Agora, para se manter vivo na principal copa da América do Sul, o Verdão precisa reencontrar o caminho dos triunfos.

O Athletico-PR, por sua vez, atravessa um bom momento. O Rubro-Negro venceu os dois últimos jogos, incluindo o duelo de ida das semis da Libertadores, e já não sabe o que é perder há quatro partidas. O foco desta semana é garantir vaga na grande decisão continental.

A vaga: O Athletico venceu por 1 a 0 na Arena da Baixada e agora precisa de apenas um empate para ir à final. Enquanto isso, o Palmeiras precisa vencer para ficar com a vaga – triunfo por um gol de diferença para levar a decisão para os pênaltis e por dois ou mais tentos de diferença para avançar direto.

Após grande imbróglio, com a Globo e o grupo de canais de TV fechada (SPORTV e Premiere) e a TV Conmebol, a emissora cancelou o contrato que tinha até 2022. Com isto, a emissora deu abertura para que outros canais entrassem no Brasil para fazer as transmissões. Assim, em TV aberta, o SBT se deu bem e assinou com a entidade para transmissão de jogos em canal aberto. Já em canal fechado, a BAND ficou com os direitos, faturando também, os direitos da Copa Sul-Americana.  O SBT poderá transmitir até duas partidas por semana, uma nacional e uma regional.

Entretanto, este ano, a forma de exibição será diferente e inédita no Brasil. Em consórcio com a entidade e outras empresas, o grupo vai montar um canal de pay-per-view para oferecer as partidas que não teriam exibição no país até então. Tudo já começa com esta partida.
